My philosophy about leadership is simple. Be a teacher. Guide and empower a learning journey.
Though I started my working life as a Chartered tax accountant, I found myself inextricably drawn to purpose led businesses as my career progressed. Business that made a difference in the lives of their customers and their employees.
While my time in private practice was relatively short, my background in finance, numbers and how they tell the story of business has stayed with me. Without numbers, whether they are revenue, conversion, profits, digital marketing stats, you don't know whether you are winning the game of business. However, my passion lies in empowering people to grow and transform themselves and as a result then, those around them.
I consider myself privileged to have had a once in a lifetime opportunity to join the global phenomon lululemon in the early days, pre-IPO. The journey of the success of lululemon was transformative, to say the least. It not only impacted my career direction, my leadership journey, but also my personal life and I dare say that of our five children.
Setting a vision for all areas of my life, understanding my values and drivers and applying strategies for candour in communication, and compassion have allowed me to live a life I love. And go on to empower, guide, train and speak to hundreds of leaders over the years.
I am truly facinated by the cross-roads the business world is at today with the accelertation of AI to help leaders and businesses do things better, faster, cheaper and I dare say more creatively. While we don't have it all figured out yet, I am confident that AI is here to stay and leaders getting onto the basketball court to figure it out, with our divine humanness is crucial.
